OPALY Engineered Quartz

Questions

The things buyers ask before the first order.

Answered plainly, including the answers that are not in our favour.

What is the minimum order?

100 m² per colour. Different colours can travel in the same 20' container, but each colour has to reach 100 m² on its own.

If you need a small quantity to test the market, tell us — sometimes we have stock of a colour already in production and can do better than the stated minimum.

How many slabs fit in a 20' container?

For 3200 × 1600 mm slabs: 140 slabs in 15 mm, 105 in 20 mm and 70 in 30 mm — seven pallets in every case, about 25.8 tonnes net.

Quartz fills a container by weight, not by volume, which is why the number of slabs changes with thickness while the tonnage stays the same.

Can I mix colours in one container?

Yes, subject to the 100 m² minimum per colour. Send us the colour split and the thicknesses you need, and we will work out what fits within the payload and send you the loading plan before you confirm.

Do you send samples?

Yes. We can send sample pieces of the colours you are considering — ask and we will confirm the sizes available and the courier cost to your address.

For a project where the client has to approve a shade, we recommend buying a larger sample board. Photographs on a screen are not a reliable way to judge a stone.

What is the lead time?

Production is scheduled after the deposit and after the colour is confirmed, so lead time depends on what is already running. Ask us for the current lead time for your colour before you commit to a client deadline, and we will give you a date rather than a range.

Which countries do you ship to?

We quote to the Gulf, the wider Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia. Our main markets today are the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman close behind.

Quotations are available FOB or CIF — tell us the destination port and we will quote against it.

Can you help with customs documentation for Saudi Arabia or the UAE?

We issue the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin through the exporting company.

For market registration — SABER in Saudi Arabia, ECAS in the UAE, and similar schemes elsewhere — tell us the destination country and the product you are importing, and we will confirm exactly which test reports and certificates we can provide. We would rather say “we do not have that” now than have your container held at the port.

Is quartz suitable for a kitchen worktop?

Yes — it is one of the best surfaces for the job. It is hard, non-porous, does not need sealing, and does not stain from oil, wine or lemon juice the way natural marble does.

Two limits worth knowing: it is not heat-proof, so use a trivet under hot pans; and it is not recommended for unshaded outdoor use.

Which thickness should I specify?

20 mm for most kitchen worktops and general joinery. 15 mm for wall cladding, splashbacks and vanities where weight matters. 30 mm for bar tops, heavy commercial work and anywhere the exposed slab edge has to look substantial.

Can quartz be used outdoors?

Not in direct, unshaded sunlight. The resin in the slab is affected by prolonged UV and the colour can shift over time. For covered terraces and shaded exterior walls it is usually fine — tell us the application and we will advise honestly.

Do you fabricate and cut to size?

We supply slabs. Cutting, edge profiling and installation are normally done by a fabricator in your own market, which is also how the trade usually works — it keeps freight cost down and puts the templating where the site is.

If you need cut-to-size material, tell us and we will confirm what is possible.

Can I visit the factory?

Yes, and we would encourage it. Send us your dates and we will arrange access to the pressing line, the polishing line, the quality bench and the warehouse.

If travelling is not practical, ask for a live video walk-through — we do this regularly for overseas buyers who want to see the plant before placing a first order.

Something not covered here? Send the question — we answer e-mails ourselves, and we will tell you if we do not know.
